In the end, Buffett’s purchase of these 63 newspapers is neither a general life buoy for print journalism nor the eccentric purchase of a man who wants to buy ink by the barrel. It was a solid business deal that puts management with a long-term focus at the help–and a big safety net under–a collection of already-profitable papers.

It’ll probably be good for Buffett and good for the papers–and the latter means it’s also good for PR practitioners.
